Briggs & Stratton Racing launches a new production facility.
In early September, Briggs and Stratton Racing began bench-building race engines in an all-new, dedicated 10,000 square foot assembly area in Wauwatosa , Wisconsin . "This commitment to our customers and the world of racing will assure an even higher level of quality. Every engine will be built by hand and tested by a dedicated crew of master builders. This approach to manufacturing will also allow us the flexibility to engineer and design our products to better cater to the needs of the racing community." commented David Klaus, Briggs & Stratton Racing Manager.

Request for Proposal for Tires for the IKF National and Regional Spring Series Just Released:

LEGAL NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that International Kart Federation (IKF) is seeking Proposals for tires for IKF Regional and National Sprint Classes. The IKF has elected to implement tire spec regulations in an effort to curb kart racing expenses, to foster a competitive balance in the sport, and to put greater emphasis on the driving skills of the participants.

Proposals will be received until 2:00 p.m., December 15, 2006, in the IKF Office. All proposals received will be documented, date and time stamped when received. Proposals received or tendered after that time and date will not be accepted. Actual receipt is required by said date and time; deposit in the mail is insufficient.

All proposals shall be addressed to the International Kart Federation marked in a manner specified in the instructions. Said instructions and specifications are on file and may be obtained from the IKF or downloaded from the International Kart Federation website at www.ikfkarting.com

The Board welcomes and will review all comments relative to the proposal process and the tire spec rule.

The IKF reserves the right to accept or reject in whole or in part any or all proposals, waive any informality, cancel this solicitation and to award a contract deemed in the best interests of IKF and its members.

Award of the contract to the successful vendor shall be based upon the proposal determined most advantageous to the IKF and its members. Proposals must remain firm once submitted and may not be withdrawn for a period of sixty days, subject to provisions for correction of errors in the proposal.

1.0 Introduction and Background: TheInternational Kart Federation is seeking proposals from manufacturers and distributors for tires for Regional and National series and races in Sprint, Shifter and TAG classes. The IKF has elected to implement tire spec regulations in an effort to curb kart racing expenses, to foster a competitive balance in the sport, and to put greater emphasis on the driving skills of the participants.

2.0 Specifications:
Tire Sizes:
4.5/10-5
6.0/11-5
7.1/11-5

Must be equivalent performance, nominal tire sizes or approved equivalent, cost and durability to the following tire categories:
Bridgestone: YHC
Selected tire will be exclusively approved for the specific class(s).

3.0 Purchasing Policy Information:

Each bidder must demonstrate regular distribution in all regions of I.K.F.
Each bidder may be required to provide sample tires for evaluation
Each bidder may be required to submit reasonable fees to provide for necessary testing
The I.K.F. reserves the right to perform testing on the tires with out notice to the manufactures.
Each bidder will provide complete pricing information
Each bidder will provide sufficient data to allow IKF to evaluate previous experience with their distribution of kart tires
Each bidder will provide a program of proposed financial support and sponsor participation. This should include Regional as well as National programs and can take the form of advertising, joint promotions and other proposals as submitted.
The winning bidder will be the spec tire provider for the I.K.F. for a term of two (2) years after which the process will be repeated to reevaluate the situation and consider other manufactures and tire options.

4.0 Clarification and/or Revisions to the Specifications and Requirements:

Proposer must examine the RFP documents carefully and before submitting a Proposal may request from the IKF contact person(s) additional information or clarification by the date specified in the RFP timetable. A Proposer’s failure to request additional information or clarification shall preclude the Proposer from subsequently claiming any ambiguity, inconsistency, or error.
Requests for additional information or clarifications must be made in writing no later than the date specified in the RFP timetable. The request must contain the Proposer's name, address, phone number, facsimile number; RFP title and the name of contact person(s). Electronic facsimile will be accepted at (909) 923-6940 attn: Pat Eldridge.

The IKF will issue responses to inquiries and any other corrections or amendments it deems necessary in written addendum prior to the Proposal due date. Proposers should rely only on the representations, statements or explanations that are contained in this RFP and the written addendum to this RFP. Where there appears to be a conflict between the RFP and any addendum issued, the last addendum issued will prevail.

It is the Proposer's responsibility to assure receipt of all addenda. IKF will send addenda by mail to only those Proposer(s) recorded by the IKF as having been sent and/or received a copy of the RFP documents from IKF. In addition, Proposer(s) may inspect the RFP documents at the place where they are made available. Upon such mailing or posting, such addenda shall become part of the RFP and binding on Proposer(s).

5.0 IKF Reservations: IKF openly solicits the best possible value on all of our "Requests for Proposals".

We openly solicit proposals from all qualified proposers. IKF reserves the right to accept or reject, any or all proposals, in whole or in part, as deemed in the best interest of the IKF and its members.

      • This proposal request does not commit IKF to make an award or to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of a proposal in response to this request.
      • The proposals will become part of IKF files without any obligation on IKF part.
      • The proposer shall not offer any gratuities, favors, or anything of monetary value to any official or employee of International Kart Federation for any purpose.
      • The vendor shall report to International Kart Federation any manufacturer product price adjustments, model changes, and product substitutions. No substitutions are allowed without prior approval from International Kart Federation.
      • International Kart Federation has the sole discretion and reserves the right to cancel this proposal and to reject any and all proposals received prior to award, to waive any or all informalities and or irregularities, or to re-advertise with either an identical or revised specification.
      • International Kart Federation reserves the right to request clarifications for any proposal.
      • International Kart Federation reserves the right to select elements from different individual proposals and combine and consolidate them in any way deemed to be in the best interest of IKF and its members.
      • International Kart Federation, will develop performance standards to be agreed upon at contract approval. These performance standards will stress availability and product consistency.

The envelope containing your proposal shall show the name of the proposer and must be clearly marked in the lower left hand corner Proposal - "Tires". Any proposal or unsolicited amendments to a proposal received after the closing date and time will not be considered.

7.0 Facsimile or E-mail of Proposals: Facsimile or e-mail of proposal are not acceptable for this proposal

8.0 Venue: This agreement will be governed and construed according to the laws of the State of California.

9.0 Status of Proposal: Proposal results will be posted on International Kart Federation’s web site www.ikfkarting.co
