    1. Transponders must be mounted per the 2006 IKF rulebook.
    1. The competitor may rent the transponders for $15.00 per day or the competitor may bring a personal owned transponder. The competitor renting the transponder will be completely responsible for any damage or lost transponders. If damage or loss occurs the competitor must make financial restitution prior to departing the facility. The competitor will not be eligible to participate in any regional event until restitution is made.

4. Pit spots must be a minimum of 10’ x 20’. If reserved pit spots are sold, the maximum fee for the entire event (including the practice day) will be $40.00 for each pit spot. Free pit spots must be offered (at least 25%). A MAXIMUM of (2) pit spots per registered and participating driver. (Not per entry)

5. In January 2006 a day of practice will be offered at the hosting track on the Friday prior to the preceding scheduled event. Practice must not begin prior to 10:00am on said Friday and can run until dusk. The track will be closed the four (4) days preceding the Friday practice.

EXCEPTION: Apparently some private tracks included in the 2006 IKF series cannot close the 4 days prior to their series race. It is not feasible for the track personnel to police this issue. The host club must inform the track of our no practice policy and if possible a sign should be placed at the registration window. It will be the clubs responsibility to compare the track’s sign-in sheets for the Monday through Thursday prior to the race to the early registration sheets looking for any violations of the no practice policy. Additionally, the race-day registration sheets also need to be reviewed. This process can be simplified by obtaining a copy of the track sign-in sheets to keep at the registration desk. Any violations will be discussed with the karter and the race committee at the event. Violators will be asked to vacate the premises and will earn a DQ for the classes in which they normally participate. A DQ cannot be considered for a drop race.

6. The hosting track will conduct said practice in conformity with the current Region 7 schedule; safety will be the most important responsibility to maintain.

  1. Following is the official time line/daily schedule for all events:
  • Practice will start at 7:30 SHARP. Drivers meeting will start after qualifying is complete. All Drivers MUST be present for the ENTIRE drivers meeting, if a drivers name is called and he or she is not present that driver will start in the back for the pre main.

B. Each of the classes competing that day will receive (2) 5-7 minute (minimum) practice sessions each. The qualifying session will start after both sessions are complete. Qualifying will be a timed session (approx. 6-9 minutes).

C. You will grid by order of Region 7 points. (First race by pea pick)

Group qualifying:
The definition of group qualifying is: Race Director will determine how many karts will be allowed on the track at one time. There will be no modulating of the drivers to the track. If bump drafting or pushing (which is illegal) is observed, the driver doing the pushing or bump drafting will be sent to the back of the field regardless of where he or she qualified. Race Director will have the FINAL say.

For classes with over 34 entries, there MAY be a consolation race.

Example: If there are 40 entries, the cut off will be 28 and the top 6 from the consolation race will transfer to the main event

F. The pre-final will start no later than 45 minutes after the end of qualifying.

Drivers’ registration will close at 9:00am, no exceptions! All pertinent information must be to the designated head scorer by 9:30am sharp!

Note: Rules may be added or changed with notice.

FYI...2006 IKF Rulebooks were shipped from Tucson, AZ on Tuesday, January 3, 2006.
The IKF wishes to apologize for the lateness of the 2006 IKF Rulebook. This years rulebook is nearly a total rewrite and required many hours of labor to complete. We wish to thank Mr. Syd White, IKF Rulebook Chairman, for all of his hard work and outstanding contribution to the 2006 Rulebook.

Trio of Veteran Announcers Join IKF Region 7 Southwestern Super Series
Los Angeles, CA: David Williams, a well-known fixture in the Southern California Karting scene, has been named as the official announcer for the International Kart Federation Region 7 Southwestern Super Series 2006 season by regional co-coordinator Don St. Ours.

Williams, a sculptor by trade, began announcing kart races back in the 1970’s when he got handed a microphone and asked to improvise by the event’s officials. His detailed technical information, along with knowledge of the competitors and their histories made him an instant hit with the spectators and participants at the event.

Since then he has continued to meet or surpass the standards he set that day. In 2005, he announced 52 race days with local clubs So Cal Karters, Tri C and LAKC as well as for local, regional and national series including the IKF, Stars of Tomorrow and WKA. He was also heard at the California Road Race Festival and the Vintage Kart Races.

Joining Williams for the first three races of the series will be the ever-popular Rob Howden of Howden Communications (Super Kart Illustrated and Ekartingnews.com). Howden is one of the most in demand announcers in the sport of karting and has announced multiple events including the SKUSA Super Nationals, Stars of Karting National Championship, The Rock Island Grand Prix and the Southwestern Super Series season opener at California Speedway in 2005. He always provides insightful commentary not only on the competitors and the series, but also shares information about the sport as a whole.

Later in the season, Trey Valentine will join the series to give the karters yet another viewpoint on the exciting Region 7 sprint kart racing action.
