2005 Road Race Grand National TaG Rules Clarifications
With the approach of the 2005 Road Race Grandnationals 30 days away some TAG rules clarifications are important for our members.  Actual numerical references will be posted on the Rules page shortly.

"Due to confusion in TAGUSA rules and IKF Regional  Championship rules the Leopard cc rule is changed to 9.5cc without the LAD tool. This is the same as TAGUSA".

" Wherever flex tubing is specified, solid tubing is acceptable for Road Race Only.  This change reflects the durability concerns of our members. The solid tube must meet the same dimensions as the flex tubing."

"
The following changes to specifications for bearings, seals, gaskets and fasteners are in effect:
Bearings: must be of original type as per Homologation documents. ie: 6205, no dual-row, ceramic ball or other exotic bearing allowed.
Seals: must be of original type (size) as per Homologation documents, with no modification. No trimming or spring removal. Must be installed as original.  ie: not reversed.
        Gaskets: non-tech
        Fasteners: non-tech."

"Rotax rules clarification:

Rotax engines in all classes must meet official Rotax Max specifications as to all engine components including airbox, carburetor and engine specifications.  The only exception being that for TAG Enduro only, either a Rotax or a CIK airbox is permitted. Note that at the Road Race Grandnationals Rotax Max engines may compete with or without seals, but all technical regulations apply."

Did You Know? May 2005
Renewal memberships are mailed to each national member 45 days prior to the expiration date of the membership. This allows ample time for the member to fill out and submit the application for processing to the IKF office without an interruption in membership.
The 2005 IKF rulebook features and INDEX BY SECTION on pages 111-116. This should be very helpful to find areas of interest in the Rulebook. Thanks to Jack Hoegerl and Felton Stroud for their help with the INDEX.
IKF members retain the same IKF membership number as when they first signed up for membership with the IKF. Expiration dates on the cards change when memberships are renewed.
The outlines for IKF Board of Directors meetings are in Section 101 of the IKF rulebook. Section 101.1 details the January Meeting; Section101.2 details the Spring Meeting and Section 101.3 details the Fall meeting. All materials to be on the agenda or reviewed at the Board of Directors meeting (letters etc.) must be received in the IKF office 14 days PRIOR to opening day of said meeting.
Requests for the running of local option and regional championship classes must be submitted for approval by the club/track/promoter EACH year. Upon approval or denial, the club/track/promoter and all appropriate committee chairmen will receive a letter from the IKF office advising the status of the classes. The form for the submission of the classes is available in the track packet mailed out each year or call the IKF office at 909-923-4999. We will be glad to fax or mail the form to the club/track/promoter.
TAG LICENSE: If you have a vaild IKF shifter or IKF qualified road race license(red card), you DO NOT need to apply for an IKF TaG license. Either one of these license' will suffice to compete in IKF Sprint TaG events.
NOVICE ROAD RACE PERMITS: To receive an IKF qualified(red) road race license, you must compete in three(3) IKF sanctioned(not club) road race events. You must have a finish position in each event and have the Race director of each event sign and date the back of the IKF novice (yellow) road race permit. When you have three(3) sign offs on your yellow card, mail the yellow card to the IKF office. Once the three races have been verified, your IKF qualified(red) road race license will be mailed to you.
